So before we ride on, here are lists of things we’ll endeavor to cover in this tutorial:

• How to get your domain name and hosting account.
• How to install WordPress in your Cpanel provided by your hosting company.
• How to select a WordPress theme.
• How to create pages and categories on your WordPress blog.
• How to make your first post on WordPress.
• How to install WordPress plugins.

So lets get started.

Getting Started

Actually people do make alot of mistake when starting up a WordPress blog. Some move straight to WordPress.com to create a blog and this type do not offer you all you need. Things are limited.

It actually makes more sense creating a blog with wordpress.org also known as a self hosted blog. This is not limited because you are opened to so many features like theme installation, plugins installations customization of site to your taste. All that is needed is a domain and a hosting account and this takes us to the first thing on our list which is how to get a domain and hosting account.

Step One: How to Get A Domain And Hosting Account

Domain
A domain name is basically what people type in a browser to get to your website. It’s simply your website address on the internet. E.g: BloggingSeries.com is a domain(name).

Web Hosting
Just like your apartment which can be regarded to as your place, web hosting is simply where your website or blog lives in. The web hosting made it possible for your blog or website to be live on the internet.

Now, a (.com & .net) being the most used domain usually cost $10.98/yr and web hosting differs in price, depending on the web hosting company and the package you want to get. But in this post, I’ll strongly recommend Namcheap because of their quality services (talking from experience). You can get your domain and hosting account straight from Namecheap.

• A new page will display, asking you to select a domain, then click on purchase a new domain.

• You’ll be taken to a page to enter your domain mame to check the availablity. Once available, pick the one of your choice or a .com domain which is roughly $10.98/yr. Then click on add new domain to cart.
